During the past week (4th – 8th November 2019) an event called International Teaching Week (ITW) took place at the Faculty of Physical Culture, Palacký University Olomouc, organized by the faculty’s international office. Nine lecturers from Israel, Iran, Portugal, Serbia, Canada and USA gave lectures and led practical lessons during all five days for our domestic and international students. Thanks to this event, the international lecturers had the opportunity to explore the faculty facilities, meet and talk to the students and more importantly, they could talk to the Czech teachers connected to their respective fields, establish new connections, and discuss the possibilities of further collaboration and partnerships.
Our students could, among others, learn innovative swimming instruction methods, try playing a popular developmental racquet sport game called pickleball or visit various interesting lectures covering the fields of sport diagnostics, physiotherapy and biomechanics.
“I would assess this semester’s ITW in a very positive way for we were able to maintain the trend in continuous quality improvement of this event, which plays a significant role in promoting the Faculty of Physical Culture abroad, as well as promoting our international partners and partner universities among our students. Hence I would not hesitate to paraphrase the Olympic motto – faster, higher, stronger (citius, altius, fortius)” commented the vice-dean for international relations, Dr. Michal Kudláček, on the successful realization of the 15th ITW.
The whole event was indeed a very successful experience not only for our university but also for the international teachers, as proven by the following feedback given by one of the guests, and we already look forward to the 16th ITW, which will be held in April 2020.
Anat Farkash, The Academic College at Wingate – Israel:
“Not only did I make professional contacts but also personal ones. The receiving staff at Faculty of Physical Culture, Palacký University Olomouc, went out of their way to enable a very high level of professional and personal experience. The interaction with the students was perfect and the interaction with fellow foreign lecturers was simply wonderful. I personally met a fellow local colleague in my field. This already led to a professional cooperation and my personal development in means of possible further Ph.D. studies. I would like to thank all staff of Faculty of Physical Culture for their efficient professional collaboration and their personal warm welcome.”
