FTK has successfully secured a three-year Erasmus+ Jean Monnet grant for the project "European Dimension in Sport for Development and Peace" (EUSportDev). In collaboration with the Faculty of Science, Department of Development and Environmental Studies, a new module will be created within the project to introduce students to various ways of using sports and physical activities to positively impact social issues, the environment, social cohesion, and more. Additionally, a study will be conducted to map approaches to this topic in different EU countries, and roundtable discussions will be organised to provide a platform for dialogue among representatives from academia, the non-profit sector, public administration, sports organizations, and leisure activity organisers. More information is available here: https://gloknoco.net/eusportdev/.
For anyone interested in learning about innovative ways to harness the potential of sports and physical activities in the Czech Republic and neighbouring European countries, the module "Social Change through Sport in the EU" will be available in the summer semester. This English-taught course will engage students in an interactive exploration of sports and physical activity as tools for development, examining approaches and perspectives from various EU countries and organisations, the role of sports in addressing migration and social inclusion, the involvement of different EU bodies in this field, and the use of sports for people with physical and mental disabilities. The course will emphasize active participation in seminars, researching and processing new information, and practical demonstrations. It will include a visit to the Football for Development activities in the Olomouc region and an excursion to Prague, where students will visit other organisations active in the sports sector (such as the Czech Olympic Committee, non-profit organisations, etc.).
The course is already listed in the master's full-time study programmes of Applied Physical Activities, Leisure Studies, and Physical Education Teaching under the title Social Change through Sport in the EU (KSK/@CSEU).
