On July 1, 2025, extensive renovations will begin on Building B of the J. L. Fischer dormitory. This will temporarily limit the operation of the medical offices located there, which students will find in a brand-new health center starting in November. For the time being, students can use the services of a general practitioner at the second Olomouc branch of Moje ambulance.
The modernization of the dormitory will last throughout the 2025/2026 academic year, increasing accommodation capacity, providing new kitchen and bathroom facilities, and bringing the premises up to modern standards. Due to the extent of the renovation, the doctors' offices and massage studio will also be closed in the building from July.
"Unfortunately, with such an extensive construction project, we are unable to find suitable replacement premises that would meet the demanding regulations for the operation of medical facilities. Our goal is to open a completely new health center in the connecting corridor between blocks A and B of the J. L. Fischer dormitory as soon as possible," explained SKM Deputy Head Radek Koněvalík, adding that students should once again find a general practitioner, dentist, and gynecologist in the new center starting in November. “A psychological counseling center is also under discussion,” he added.
Patients who used the services of a general practitioner in the dormitory building can contact the second Olomouc branch of Moje ambulance (information at Czech web only) at Janáčkova 943/5 starting in July. “We will be operating at the current address until June 26, then we will move, and from Monday, June 30, we will be available to all our clients at the second branch,” said Michal Hradečný from Moje ambulance. The telephone number for the clinic for any questions is +420 585 750 535.
The current operator of the dental office offers emergency treatment by prior telephone appointment at +420 722 947 407. In case of an emergency on weekends and holidays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., it is possible to use the dental emergency service at the Olomouc University Hospital.
“We would like to thank our students for their understanding and patience. I believe that the modern health center we are preparing for them will be sufficient compensation,” concluded Koněvalík.
