Although they did not take home the main prize in the prestigious DZS Awards, their achievement is remarkable! Alena Krejčí and Bára Plačková, students of the Adapted Physical Activity program, ranked among the top six individual study abroad experiences from the entire Czech Republic in the category "Student Going Abroad from the Czech Republic."
Alena and Bára spent three months with Adaptable Outdoors in Alberta, Canada, helping people with disabilities overcome barriers to physical activity. Their work had a direct impact on the local community—thanks to their dedication, the organization was able to make outdoor activities accessible to more people than ever before. Whether it was adaptive hiking, fishing, or water sports, Alena and Bára played a key role not only in organizing and assisting participants but also in promoting and coordinating the programs.
However, their internship was not only about making a difference in Canada. We believe their experience will have a significant impact on other FTK students as well. Their story proves that studying at our faculty is not just about sports and movement—it is about making a real difference and changing the world around us. Alena and Bára have shown that the skills acquired at FTK can have a global reach and serve as an inspiration for other students considering an international experience.
Alena and Bára, thank you for your outstanding representation of our faculty and the Czech Republic! We are proud of you and look forward to seeing how your experiences inspire future generations of students.
The DZS Awards annually recognize inspiring projects and individuals who contribute to the development of international cooperation, education, and sustainability. Additionally, special awards are given to individuals going abroad from the Czech Republic and coming to the Czech Republic, through which DZS acknowledges outstanding and impactful individual mobility experiences.
