More than three hundred international students kicked off the 2026/2027 academic year during the Orientation Week, held from September 14 to 18, 2026, and organized by the Office for Mobility in collaboration with ESN UP Olomouc.
374 that is the number of Erasmus+ and exchange international students set to spend the next five or ten months at our university, 303 of them arrived in Olomouc in time for the Orientation Week program.
The week began on Monday, September 14, with an introduction to Palacký University Olomouc. Students were introduced to university facilities and organizations such as Akademik Sport Centre, Welcome Office, ESN UP Olomouc, Sustainable University, UP Library, and Support Centre for Students with Special Needs. The students were also personally welcomed by Ms. Ilona Utěkalová, who shared important information and regulations from the Accommodation office.
The program also included a lecture on the Czech Republic, covering our culture, politics, history, and common stereotypes.
On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, students arriving from five continents had the opportunity to learn the basics of the Czech language and receive practical information regarding both their studies at UP and life in Olomouc outside the university. The schedule also featured a meeting with the Czech Police, where students learned practical details about Czech laws and their rights and obligations while in the country.
Like every semester, student volunteers from ESN UP Olomouc were a great help to us, as they showed their new "classmates" around university facilities and other practical places in Olomouc and prepared an unforgettable daily afternoon programme.
We would like to thank all lecturers and helpers for another successful Orientation Week and we wish all students as many pleasant and enriching experiences and newly established friendships as possible.
